Stunning exemple of brutalist art vernacular. The juxtaposition of Abstract Expressionism and post-Impressionism in this show was quite clear. For the majority of the paintings, the abstract image was not only a stylistic aberration, but a revolutionary one. It was the only thing to be seen, and it was the only thing worth thinking about. As the image was shown, the abstract image was simultaneously an abstraction of the world and an image of the world itself. The abstraction of the world is one of the most advanced arts of modern civilization. It is the most advanced of the sciences, the most advanced of the arts. The abstraction of the world is the only art that exists in a world of things. The abstract image is the most advanced of the arts, the most advanced of the sciences. It is the only art that has no beginning or end. The abstract image is eternal, timeless. The abstract image is eternal, timeless. Stunning exemple of brutalist art vernacular. The work is a series of near-cinematic shots of a hot-air balloon, the balloon being propelled through the air by a pendulum, and the camera suddenly cuts to the sky in a flash, the image seemingly immediately disappearing from view. The imagery is so dazzlingly ridiculous, so inchoate, so uncannily clear, that it seems as though the viewer were in a dream. The balloon is flying through the air, the camera stops, and the balloon disappears again. The final shot is a close-up of the balloon in a corner of a darkened room with a lamp and a camera placed on top of it. The balloon seems to hover just above the floor, like some kind of monster in a horror movie. The lamp and camera are in the same room as the balloon. And yet the lamp and camera seem to be in another room. The camera is trained on the ceiling, and the lamp on top of the balloon seems to be the ceiling. And yet the balloon seems to hover above the ceiling. The work is so comical that it is hard to believe in the veracity of the illusion that the camera is in another room. It is as if the illusion of the camera in another room is as real as the balloon that is hovering above it. The works repetitiveness is so clear, so simple, that one can simply marvel at the sheer absurdity of it all. It is as if the viewer were playing with a toy, an object that had been made up to be a hoax, a hoax that could never be real. It is as if the viewer were playing with a toy that could never be real. In this work, it is as though the viewer were playing with a toy that could never be real. This is an art of pure banality. It is a black art. It is a perverse art, a work of art that is meant to be absurd.

Stunning exemple of brutalist art vernacular, these two works were executed in bronze, though they were also painted in gold leaf. The two works in this show, the only one that was not a work of the artists own making, were titled after the artists father, a painter of the same name. The titles were taken from the titles of his earlier works, and the paintings on view were from the artists earlier series of works titled Untitled. The paintings in these works, which were all made in bronze, were all of a similar scale, and in each case were painted in gold leaf. The works on view are named after the artists father, a painter of the same name, and they were executed in bronze. The paintings in these works, which were all made in bronze, were all of a similar scale, and in each case were painted in gold leaf. In each case, the same three-part series of paintings was shown, each depicting a single, slightly larger, but otherwise identical, canvas. The titles of the works on view, in this case titled Untitled, all begin with the word dad, and in all cases the name is either the name of a family member or a sort of generic nickname for the artist. The paintings on view are all of a similar scale, and in each case were painted in gold leaf. Stunning exemple of brutalist art vernacular. For this show, the artist assembled a number of works that showed a clear affinity to the style of Minimalism. The best of these were a series of monochromes, all from 1988, which depicted a single figure—a head, arm, or torso—in a single, identical pose. In the images, the artist manipulated his or her materials with a mix of craft and ingenuity. The most striking of these works was the most obvious: a steel-and-cotton-rubber sculpture from 1989, a neck from 1988, and a painted-wood sculpture from 1988. In each case, the material was either a natural or man-made substance, and each was painted in a painstakingly applied, monochromatic, and densely applied color. The works were also carefully executed in a high-gloss finish, a polished, matte finish that makes them look like the result of a finished product. In these works, the artist was able to express his or her personal vision of the world through an intense and controlled technique. The sculptures are designed to be handled with care. But the artist did not use these materials for their strength, nor did he attempt to make the sculptures durable, as the artist does in his other works. Rather, he used them as a means of expressing his or her own personal vision of the world. The wooden sculptures, made with a large block of wood, are made with a high-gloss finish, but the same technique is used to create the works on canvas. In the same way, in his other works, the artist used the materials of his or her materials. In this show, the wood sculptures were made with steel and covered with a metallic coating. The paintings were made with painted metal. The sculpture pieces were also a strong reference to Minimalist sculpture, and also to the artists own work.
