In this way, Flavin helped create a new kind of photography that would be the foundation for the new avant-garde.In the 1980s, Flavin and a group of friends created an avant-garde video that would be called The AbEx Factory. The AbEx Factory was a collection of two- and three-dimensional objects, objects that the artists had invented. This collection included a camera, a monitor, and a color television set.
