Biblioteca virtual CLACSO (Complete catalog of information collected by the central library of the city of São Paulo) is a massive, almost ten-thousand-page work that documents the collection of the Central Library, which the architect Antonio de Oliveira built in the late seventeenth century. The work documents the collection of books, maps, and other items that the librarys staff collected, most of them in the course of their daily duties, and its subsequent destruction. The works title refers to the quality of the books—the quality of their bindings—and to the fact that, according to de Oliveira, the librarys staff never ceased to collect information on the books, but did not destroy them. The work is dedicated to the memory of the librarys patrons, and to the memory of the city of São Paulo, which the architect built in the nineteenth century. The central library of the city, which is now a state-of-the-art complex of research and storage facilities, was designed to house the world's largest collection of books, which totaled approximately one hundred million volumes. The collection of the central library of the city of São Paulo was designed to house the world's largest collection of books, which totaled approximately one hundred million volumes. (2000), and La voz de todo (Time and todo [time and todo [time and todo [time and todo]), A. (2002), are all based on a medical textbook, and the latter is based on a text by the French physician, mathematician, and mathematician Alain Jouffroy. The last work in the show, La voz de todo (Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo]), A. (2003), is based on the book of mathematics by the Russian mathematician, naturalist, and logician, Alexander Cantor. The title refers to the time of the universe and, as we know, is also an expository device in the scientific literature. As a result, the work is a kind of mathematical proof. The object in the works title, La voz de todo (Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo [Time and todo]), A. (2003), is a cylinder with a triangular hole at the center and a square hole at the center. The triangular hole is filled with a liquid that is liquid at the center and solid at the periphery, and the liquid at the periphery is treated with the same liquid treatment as that of the solid mass at the center. The liquid is placed in the center of the cylinder and the solid mass in the corner, and the liquid is spread out on the floor. The result is a work in which the solid mass is moved by gravity from the center to the periphery, and vice versa. And this is where the liquid comes into play.

Biblioteca virtual CLACSO de Catalunya, Spain, has served as a catalyst for this series of exhibitions, all on view this past spring at the Centro de Investigaciones Contemporáficas in Barcelona. The series of exhibitions, titled La subjetividad y su estudio, has been organized with the cooperation of the Instituto Nacional de Arte Contemporáfica de Barcelona, which is also the venue for La subjetividad y su estudio, a series of collaborative exhibitions that aims to engage the Spanish public in an ongoing dialogue about the nature and history of modernity. The first of these was La subjetividad y su estudio: A. (Lets follow the human figure) (1999) organized by the Instituto Nacional de Arte Contemporáfica de Barcelona, which began in 1999 and ended in 2002. The exhibition was organized in two parts. The first was a large group of documents, some of them dated as early as the late 1980s, that were to be found in the Instituto Nacional de Arte Contemporáfica de Barcelona, as well as in several private collections throughout Spain. The second part of the show was a series of installations, including a huge wall of books, that were to be found at the Instituto Nacional de Arte Contemporáfica de Barcelona. The books, dating from the early 1990s to the late 2000s, are arranged in a series of descending chronological groups, each one featuring a different artistic or literary style. The books are shown in a variety of styles, from the early to the late 20th century, and from the artist to the collector. The idea of a sequence of aesthetic and literary relationships was suggested by the titles of the works on display: Goya, Caravaggio, and Klee.
